My Profile

I started my career as an archaeologist in Africa in 1989. I experienced all aspects of archaeology and heritage, from excavation and survey of large cultural territories to the study and archiving of collections. I have been field director, surveyor, ceramic specialist, illustrator of collections and maps, and author and manager of several multidisciplinary projects related to archaeology and Cultural Heritage.
Since 2003 I have been actively involved in numerous initiatives aimed at integrating digital technologies in the practice of Cultural Heritage for effective accessibility and management of cultural information.
In my career I have organized independently small-medium projects and parts of larger ones; among the others are ARCHEOZONE, the UNO-Aluka project, and the EU project EPOCH. I have taught courses of archaeology and digital heritage at the University of Naples and University of Turin in Italy, UC Berkeley, Art Center in Bahrein, and elsewhere. I have successfully coordinated collaborative projects, developed new ideas and connections for research and teaching, conducted fund raising initiatives, and written project proposals.
Traveling and working for so many years in so many countries taught me to be open but grounded, respectful but determined, and more than anything else, it taught me to love differences and learn from them.
